This week on The AVB Podcast we sit down with singer-songwriter Soul Brother Mike. Soul brother Mike brings a plethora of music experience having toured across Canada, the US, and Europe. He worked alongside award winning producers including Gordon Williams ( Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse), Gordie Johnson ( Big Sugar), and Eric Ratz ( Metric), just to name a few. He has recorded dozens of albums as frontman-songwriter of indie-folk group Michou and as a bassist and songwriter of the soul group The Walkervilles (Windsor, Ontario). He started performing solo in 2015 and released his debut album “Off Mike”. He followed that album up with “Learn to Vibe” in May 2017, and now he is working on a new project under the name Soul Brother Mike. His sound is influenced by the likes of Lewis Taylor, Donny Hathaway, and Nina Simone to name a few. Outside of music, Mike is a co-host alongside his wife, Crissi Cochrane, of the podcast “Get Collected” where they discuss music, politics, and poetry.
